English Translation –The breath should be taken through the nostril which is active and hold it inside as long as we can do easily. We should also take care that our mouth is closed, so that breathed air should not pass out through it. Practitioner of this technique becomes young.
English Translation – We should close our mouth, nostrils, eyes and ears with the help of ten fingers of our both the hands and keep us aware of the Tattva active in the breath during the practice. This is called Shanmukhi Mudra (a kind of posture).
Method of this Mudra has been explained while translating verse No. 150 of Shivaswrodaya. The method is given there as described by the great Swar Yogi Paramahansa Satyananda Saraswati in his book Swar Yoga. The same is reproduced hereunder:
1. At the outset, we should sit in any comfortable meditative posture.
2. Then we should close our eyes, shape our lips like crow-beak, breathe through mouth with feeling that vital energy is moving from Muladhara Chakra (the place in the spinal column at the level of anus) towards Ajna Chakra (place between eyebrows).
3. We should hold breath inside as long as we can hold comfortably, simultaneously close ears, nose, mouth etc as mentioned in the verse, touch palate with tongue by folding it back side (Khechari Mudra), bend head a little down but chin should not touch the upper chest and feel our consciousness between eyebrows.
4. After that we should breathe out keeping our head straight.
5. This one cycle of this practice. We should practise it at least five times daily. After every cycle we may relax for few seconds, but eyes should be kept closed. After completion of the practice, we should sit silently with closed eyes and observe colour appearing before the eyes. The colour, which appears at that time, indicates the appearance of Tattva in the breath, i.e. appearance of yellow colour indicates earth, white indicates water, red- the fire, blue or grey- air and appearance of black colour or combination of different colours indicates ether.
English Translation – A person, who practices this technique daily, becomes capable to identify shape, motion, taste, and property of Tattvas. He acquires health and capacity to establish good relation.
English Translation – A yogi, who is free of all expectations, desires and concerns, lives in the world as an actor and thus he surpasses the death.
English Translation – The cosmic power of this universe is seen by a Yogi with his eyes. He should therefore concentrate his mind on the same.
